Washington State is home to three species of wild canines. Wolves (Canius lupus) , coyotes (Canis latrans) and Cascade red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) are wild animals. They are not pets. It is not legal to have these animals as pets. If you would like to learn more about these animals we encourage you volunteer with the following organizations:
Wolf Haven located in Tenino, Washington is a non-profit which according to its website "rescues and provides sanctuary for displaced, captive-born wolves, offers educational programs about wolves and the value of all wildlife, promotes wolf restoration in historical ranges, and works to protect our remaining wild wolves and their habitat."
